Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- ½ cup Frank’s Original Red Hot Sauce
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup white cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
- ¼ cup American cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
- ¼ cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
- 2 teaspoons green onions or chives, sliced
- 10 celery sticks, carrot sticks, tortilla chips, crusty bread, or potato chips (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and position the oven rack in the middle.
- Sauté Garlic and Chicken: In an 8-inch cast-iron skillet (or ovenproof pan), melt butter over medium-high heat. Sauté the garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the shredded chicken and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, and simmer until the sauce thickens and reduces by half, about 2 minutes.
- Add Cream Cheese and Sour Cream: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the softened cream cheese until combined. Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream.
- Top with Cheese and Bake: Spread the mixture evenly and top with shredded white cheddar and American cheddar cheeses. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes, until bubbling and the cheese is melted.
- Broil and Garnish: Broil for 1 minute to brown the top. Immediately garnish with crumbled blue cheese (optional) and green onions or chives.
- Serve: Serve hot with vegetable sticks, chips, crusty bread, or potato chips for dipping.
Notes
- If you don’t have an oven-proof skillet, prepare the dip in a regular pan, then transfer it to a 1-quart baking dish before baking.
- Rotisserie chicken works great for this recipe.
- Adjust the level of spiciness by increasing or reducing the amount of hot sauce.
- Omit blue cheese if you’re not a fan.
